On Tuesday 29th January our School Councillors were lucky enough to meet the Mayor of Pendle James  Starkie and his wife Janet, the Mayoress. They were also given a guided tour of Nelson Town Hall. This was a chance for them to go behind the scenes and find out some fascinating history. The School Councillors discovered how the present day Pendle Council runs and what the Mayor’s job entails.

Our visit included being shown the old Police cells, the Council Chamber and civic insignia before having tea and biscuits in the Members’ Room.

The School Councillors asked lots of interesting questions and also took pride in informing the Mayor and Mayoress about all the initiatives that they have carried out whilst being members of our School Council.
