Three of our star cross country runners represented Pendle on Thursday evening, at the Lancashire Schools Cross Country Champions. First off were the girls, who were welcomed to the start line by torrential rain. This made conditions underfoot really testing, and both our girls put in typically gutsy performances, with Cadie coming home in 44th and Grace, despite two horrific falls, showing great determination to get up and complete the race.
Next up were the boys, and with Lewis being the Pendle Champion, we had high hopes. Lewis learnt a harsh lesson however, as he started the race in his very wet and very heavy Park hoody (despite being told not to!) and this clearly affected Lewis who was towards the back for this first part of the race. After throwing this off, he stormed through the field to finish in a very respectable 13th place. A great effort considering his tricky start and a valuable lesson learnt going forward.
A big well done to those three children racing in conditions that were certainly character building!
