Even though we broke up for half term yesterday, our Year 5/6 girls football team were back action in the latest round of games at Fishermore.
The draw meant they were taking on 3 top teams tonight and they got off to a good start, beating a strong Coates Lane side 2-0. They then took to the field to face Earby and, after squandering numerous chances, they fell to a 1-0 defeat. This was the first time the girls have been beaten this season. Unfortunately, lightning struck twice and, in the very next game against a solid St Pauls side, they were beaten by the same score- again after not converting chances.
Despite the disappointment of the defeats tonight, the girls are still towards the top of the table and will be hoping to emulate our boys team and triumph in the league, with the final round of fixtures coming in two weeks time.
Unlucky today girls. Some shooting practice with Mr Caldecott, when we get back to school, and we’ll be back to winning ways!
