Earlier this week we launched our new initiative aimed at bringing together parents and their children to make friends and celebrate cultural identity and community.

Connected to our ‘Schools Linking’ work where pupils take part in exchange visits for cross-cultural learning, that night we had families from across the Pendle Borough enjoying an opportunity to join with their children in getting to know different people and build positive relationships.
Nearly 80 people took part in an interactive evening which ended with a 3-course meal and most parents have made a commitment towards meeting each other again.

Another 3 get together’s are planned, where conversations will continue and art work on the creation of banners based on themes of family, community and environment will be completed.
It is planned that art-work will be exhibited across the borough during summer – more details to come in due course.
Many thanks to our partners for their support – InSitu, Creeping Toad and Marsden Primary School. Also to the ACE Centre for being a great host.

I am an Assistant Headteacher at Park Primary School. I actually attended this school as a child and couldn’t think of anywhere better to work; I love teaching and think it a very rewarding job. I enjoy holidays away with my family and we love camping and being outdoors with our dog, Oscar.
