Such is the popularity of our after school football club, we’ve entered two teams into the league this year and both were in action tonight. Tonight’s matches determined what division we would be entered into and, prior to kick off, Mr Caldecott and Mr Byrom had high hopes our A team we would be placed into the top division.

They started off strongly, thanks to a well taken goal from our super striker, Bradley, to give us a 1-0 win over Castercliff (although it could quite easily have been more as he rattled the post twice!)

Next up, was a strong St Paul’s side, who’d also won their opening game convincingly. After a tentative start, a thunderbolt from Ashton was quickly followed up by a clinical finish from Charlie to secure an impressive 2-0 win.

Finally, we faced the home side, Pendle View, and after racing into a 2-0 lead, thanks to goals from Charlie and Ashton,  we conceded an unlucky goal on the break (the only one of the night). The boys showed great determination though to see out a 2-1 victory, that will surely see them placed into the highest division.

Our B team, made up mostly of Year 5 boys, showed great courage to draw one and narrowly lose two. The boys showed great resilience throughout though, never giving up and giving 100% in every match.

A big well done to all the boys, they were a credit to the teachers and parents who went to support them.

My name is Mr Thompson and I am the class teacher in year 5 as well as the PE subject leader. This is going to be my second year teaching at Park and it is one that I am really looking forward to. Away from the classroom, I enjoy socialising with friends, going to the gym and taking part in a variety of sports.
