Buxton Trip

Buxton Day 1

Today the children have enjoyed a lovely day at Matlock Farm. After eating dinner, we explored the farm and fed a wide selection of animals. Once all the animals were well fed, we ALL bounced around on the inflatable pillow and took great pleasure in trying to make the teachers fall over! When we arrived at the Nightingale Centre, we were welcomed by the Buxton teddies and settled into our rooms. We’ve all enjoyed our first meal -macaroni and cheese- and are unwinding ready for whatever tomorrow has in store for us.

Buxton Day 2

After a good nights sleep, the children awoke refreshed and had a delicious cooked breakfast. After a brief stint in the Nightingale Centre, the children went out to explore Carsington Water. While we were there, we enjoyed two walks in the spring sun and discovered some amazing wooden sculptures. Even after these two tiring walks, the children still had enough energy to enjoy some time at the park. Once again, we all have enjoyed a lovely meal and are unwinding ready for another day of exploring the countryside tomorrow.

Buxton Day 3

After such a tiring day yesterday, all the children slept well. We started the day off with another delicious breakfast before setting off on a walk. Our first walk took us to a local historic site - Peter’s Stone. Upon climbing to the base of Peter’s Stone, we had a beautiful view of the local area for miles around. After a brief stop at the Nightingale Centre for a hot chocolate, we went out for our second walk. While we were walking, we were lucky enough to experience all the seasons; sun, wind, rain and even some hailstone! The children are currently enjoying a movie night -Encanto - before a lovely day at Pooles Cavern tomorrow.

Buxton Day 4

For our final day at Buxton we went to Pooles Cavern. While we were there, we went deep into the cave and learnt about the rich history of the cave. Inside we spotted stalactites and stalagmites that had been growing for thousands of years. Upon finishing dinner, we climbed up towards Solomon’s Temple and admired the lovely view. After our final tea of homemade burgers and wedges , we relaxed before our return to school.

Buxton Day 5

After another good nights sleep, the children woke up in the Nightingale Centre for the final time. For our final morning, we’ve tidied our rooms and performed a poem for the members of staff at the Nightingale Centre before our trip home. On the way back to school, we had enough time to stop off to eat our dinner and have an ice cream.

All of the children have had a lovely time on the residential and made amazing memories.

The children will be back at school and ready to collect at the usual time ready to head home for a good nights sleep!
