On Tuesday Year 3 had a visit from a geologist called Adriana. She came into school to explain the work that she does. We looked at a selection of rocks which had been drilled out on an oil rig. We looked at how they were formed and learnt how scientists extract oil out of these rocks.

Back in the classroom we have been making a window box so we can observe how the root system of plants develop. Mr Weir kindly made the template and we had to slide the CD sleeve in between the the two pieces of wood and then hammer the dowel into the holes. Once we had done this we then had to carefully use a saw and sandpaper to cut and then sand down the excess dowel.

We’re looking forward to watching our plants grow over the next few weeks.
