Year 1’s Forest School Fun

Every Wednesday, year 1 spend the morning at our amazing forest school site. Each week we have different challenges to complete. So far, we have: been on a sound hunt using our sense of hearing, made instruments and sounds by banging, strumming, shaking and scraping, made paint from the charcoal from the fire pit, picked radishes exploring our new allotment, learnt how to tie a stop knot, made bracelets using the overhand knot, practiced counting in our 10s using natural objects, made human bodies out of different resources and labelled them, and played ‘stuck on you’ races. We also read a new story, and built a den for the characters Fairy Jen and Elf Ben! Year 1 show great resilience at forest school each week, and are learning so much in an outdoor environment.
