Our footballers were in action again last night, in the latest round of fixtures in the top flight of the Pendle Schools Football League.

They went into the games unbeaten and, with the reluctant promise of McDonald’s afterwards for those girls travelling from their residential at Whitehough, they were determined to keep the run going!

First up, they had a tough game against Laneshawbridge. After a tentative start, some fine play down the left by Tia allowed Leah to ghost into the box and unleash an unstoppable shot to break the deadlock. She then quickly followed this up with an almost identical goal to make it 2-0, and that is how the game finished.

In the second game, we played a spirited Christchurch team who posed us some problems- with Lizzie making some fine saves and our defence putting in some fine tackles- but we also created plenty, with Tia and Hollie rueing some missed opportunities. The game ended in an entertaining 0-0 draw.

In our final game, there was a top of the table clash with St Pauls of Nelson. Both teams were determined to take a stranglehold of the league and, after good chances for both teams, our golden girl of the evening, Leah, popped up in the box to convert clinically with only seconds remaining on the clock! The match finished 1-0 and the girls took away a vital three points.

Well done to our girls. The McDonalds was thoroughly deserved!
