Our year five and six footballers were in action tonight, at the newly opened footballing complex at Fishermore High School. The brand new 3G pitches there, are certainly conjusive to high quality, passing football and our boys loved it!
Both our A and B teams were in action and both were confident of performing well, after some tough training sessions with Mr Caldecott, having both qualified for the top league.
First off, our A team (who won all three of their games at Pendle Vale three weeks back) kicked off with an impressive 2-0 victory over a stubborn St Thomas, side thanks to clinical finishing from Bradley and Ashton. They then went on to beat Castercliff by the same score thanks to two almost identical bullet headers from Shayne, with Ashton providing two fine assists. The final game saw them then put three goals past Marsden, with Ashton opening the scoring before Bradley scored a brace. With our strikers and midfielders looking deadly in front of goal, and our defenders and keeper not giving the opposition a chance, we are looking formidable at the moment!
Our B team put in some strong performances in the two games they played tonight too, going 1-0 up against Sacred Hearts A team before some costly errors saw us concede two second half goals to go down 2-1. They then put in a strong performance against St Pauls, with Lucas and Reece going close and Jack making some super saves in goal, before conceding two late goals to slip to a 2-0 defeat.
A big well done to both teams tonight. It was great to see superb skill, teamwork and good sportsmanship on show.
