On Friday 16th June, Mrs Greenwood, Mrs Easton, Miss Wilkinson, Mrs Midgley and Mr Benson set off with 38 very excited children to King George’s Hall, Blackburn. This was the start of a very long day! Colne Park Primary School Choir was about to participate in the very prestigious ‘Last Choir Singing’ competition, Lancashire’s answer to ‘Britain’s Got Talent!’

Along with ten other choirs from all over Lancashire, all winners in their regional heats, Colne Park Primary Choir took to the stage of the grand theatre in front of over two thousand people – every child rose to the occasion.

They began their slot with the set piece ‘We will remember them’ and it was moving to see the commitment and emotion on the faces of the children, as they sang this poignant remembrance  song about people who lost their lives and the families they left behind.

Their second piece, Mrs Easton’s choice, was a complete contrast and the children threw themselves into the joy and excitement of a ‘Dixie Land’ band! Many have commented that this was a ‘showstopping’ performance.

It was a superb evening with such a high standard of performance from every choir. The judges had some tough decisions to make. Everyone is saying it was the best final yet and that is thanks to all the choirs that took part.

We are so proud of our children – well done everyone.

The final will be broadcast on BBC Radio Lancashire on Friday, 30th June at 7pm-10pm.
