Children and parents at Park understand the importance of reading at home and the positive impact it has on a child’s learning in all subjects. As well as this, studies show that, when a child is of reading age, 90% of the language they acquire is through what they read. Children do lots of reading at school but, to aid their learning further, reading at home is vitally important. This can be hard for parents however, as they are sometimes unsure of how they can help. To support them, we will be sending home leaflets to parents of children in reception through to year three, explaining how parents can help their child. As well as this, our reading ambassadors have provided the children with bookmarks- which are tailored to the child’s individual reading level- with appropriate questions and prompts on.
