Today, at silly O’ Clock, six staff members and a parent helper rose from their beds no later than 5am to awaken themselves from their slumber. They then travelled to Manchester before mentally preparing themselves for a 13+ mile trek around the outskirts of the city in the drizzly rain that was offered. All this effort was in aid of raising money for a brand new state of the art ‘Outdoor Gym’ facility within the school grounds. Parents and staff have already contributed generously and the school would like to thank those that have helped out so far; we are extremely grateful.
So, after a few selfie moments and some group photos, the serious part of the day commenced. There were some 16000 runners at the events, so there was quite a bit of bumping and swaying at the start. The event itself was fantastically supported with: song solo singers, a DJ box and a very vocal and attuned large choir positioned around the course to motivate and gee on the runners. And so they did! Everyone completed the run – injury free – and had an amazing time doing so. Times ranged from 1h34m to 2h45m – everyone did themselves and the school proud.
The runners were: Mr Farry, Mr Burton, Miss Warbrick, Mr Benson, Miss De Curtis, Miss Barker and Paula Walsh (Parent volunteer). A lovely day out with a lovely group of people – thanks guys and girls!
