Today, our year 3/4 Orienteering team were out in full force, facing the cold and wet Lancashire weather over at Saint Michael and All Angels CofE VA Primary School.

They started out the morning by getting an induction which explained what Orienteering is all about, why Orienteering is fun and also they learned what task they would be facing today!

The task at hand was to go around the school field with a map and locate all 15 checkpoints in under 20 minutes, the school back which completed all 15 checkpoints and in the lowest time was the winner.

We got split into 2 groups (A team and B team). First off was A team which included Mara and Nathaniel, they managed to complete all 15 checkpoints in a remarkable 8 minutes and 46 seconds.

Next up was B team which consisted of Shanay and Aldion they had alittle trouble at the start, having the map upside down -opps. Nevertheless they managed to complete all 15 checkpoints in under 20 minutes recording a great time of 14 minutes and 49 seconds.

Finally it was time to get the scores on the doors and find out how we placed against the other schools. The lady put all the times into her computer and it showed us that A team comfortably grabbed 3rd place with B team not so far behind in 7th.

Overall it was a great experience, enjoyed by all, especially the children’s behaviour which was immaculate and they were a pleasure to accompany and a credit to our school.
