Transition

Transition to High School

We have excellent links with local secondary schools, particularly Park High School, this is the school most of our children go on to attend.

Children attend Park High in Year 5 and have the opportunity to enjoy a “Taster Day”. This is an opportunity to look around school and experience lessons at High School. Then in Year Six, when places have been assigned, children have a chance to go to the school again and take part in lessons. Children who have additional needs, or primary staff feel that transition will be more challenging, have an opportunity to go several times with a member of staff from Park Primary.

Before children go to Park High, Year 6 teachers meet with the Head of Year and talk about individual children and their needs.

We currently have Year 6 Able Gifted and Talented teachers visiting Park High each week to take part in math’s lessons along side another primary school.

Learning practitioners from Park High come and work with us in school and deliver interventions to Year 6 in the Spring Term.
