On Tuesday 2nd July, x4 Year 6 children travelled to Stanley Park, Blackpool to take part in the Angling Competition at the Lancashire School Games. Unfortunately, the lake wasn’t sufficient in it’s supply of fish and the angling event was cancelled. The 4 children still had a spendlid day at the games as there was all sorts of entertainment provided.
However, the event was rescheduled on Friday 5th July, at Cornfield Fisheries, Burnley. A representative from the LSG attended as well as five teams across the region.
The match started and within minutes our children: Luca, Harrison, Paisley and Alisha were getting bites. After a tense 1 and a half hour of fishing an ‘ALL OUT’ was called, and the weigh in began. The winners were announced and Park not only won the most fish caught, but the biggest fish and the gold medals for overall weight, a whopping 9lb 1oz.
This is the first time angling has been included in the games and Park are now the champions of Lancashire, an amazing feat!
Well done boys and girls and thank you Mr. Strachan for your efforts all year round with the fishing and Mrs. Ewens for getting it up and running!
