On Friday 8th December, Class 5F and 5T were learning all about Budgets and the importance of managing finances (even if you’re a professional footballer BOYS!).  A special visitor – Miss Taylor from the ‘DebtAware—Money Skills for Life’ volunteer programme – came in to teach the children about the difference of having a Balanced Budget, a Budget Deficit and a Budget Surplus.  They completed activities as a class through discussion and collectively read about a fictional tale of a Premiership Footballer and how things went wrong for him due to poor financial decisions.  These lessons are very relevant for the children giving them an awareness of the true reality of finances and the difficulties people can face in real life.  The children enjoyed the session (which run every half term in Years 5 and 6) and now have a deepened knowledge of the importance of having a balanced budget.
