This half term, our Year 6s are learning all about the Viking era.  Linking to our Global Theme, ‘Globalisation and Interdependence’, we have been learning how the Vikings migrated around different areas within Europe in order for their people to survive and progress in life. 

Our exciting class novel, ‘The Chessmen Thief’ is all about a young Scottish boy who was abducted and worked for the Vikings as a ‘Thrall’.  In addition to this, we decided to book a special Viking visitor for an immersion day in order to completely engage the children into the topic which seems to have worked.  They had a great day with ‘Eric’ learning about their way of life, handing some tools and weaponry along the way…
